Story
For his second solo exhibition, Anker invited visitors to experience, if only in glimpses, the daily reality of those who depend on assistive furniture.
Through his designs, intimate portraits, and personal quotes, the exhibition offered a profound insight into how thoughtfully designed furniture can empower people, regardless of physical ability or age.
Mentioned and widely praised in both national and international media - including Politiken, Le Monde Diplomatique, and Dezeen - the exhibition received global recognition for challenging taboos and sparking meaningful conversations about assistive furniture in design.
It set a sensitive yet urgent standard for amplifying the voices and wishes of an underrepresented minority—always in close collaboration with the individuals themselves.
Design
Set in Copenhagen’s historic Knippelsbro Bridge tower as part of the Nordic’s largest design festival, 3daysofdesign, the exhibition unfolded across four floors overlooking the harbor.
Each level presented deeply personal stories and reflections from those living with physical disabilities, alongside Anker’s assistive furniture. Beginning with the cane - symbolizing the early stages of physical challenges - the exhibition ascended through the realities of aging, culminating at the top with Ro, the organic coffin, reimagined as a table.
Here, guests from across the world gathered to speak of loss, grief, memory, and hope, in quiet reflection above Copenhagen.
