The Gaze series was launched in Asahikawa in 2024 with Takumi Kohgei, bringing the full collection together for the first time. For the exhibition, Anker designed the spatial setting as well as the furniture presentation.
The aim was to create an atmosphere where Nordic design tradition and spatial restraint could meet Japanese culture and craftsmanship. Materials, light, furniture and proportions were composed as one experience rather than presented as separate objects.
The setting brought both sides of the collaboration into view. Takumi Kohgei’s craftsmanship remained present in the materials and details, while the space carried the calm and tactile character of Scandinavian interiors.
Within it, the Gaze family of lounge chairs, high back chairs and daybeds showed how oak and exposed steel could connect the two traditions through a shared approach to comfort, openness and craft.
